About

Hi, thanks for checking out my offerings, it's nice to have you here.

I'm Liza and I had 2 hip replacements by the time I was 48 — that's what brought me to Restorative Yoga. After taking Power Yoga since 1998 with Baron Baptiste at his Institute in Cambridge MA, dozens of workshops in Vinyasa flow with amazing teachers like Shiva Rea, Todd Norian, Rolf Gates, Ana Forrester, and more, countless dance classes from pre-teen to adulthood, years of New England skiing and walking the cities of Boston and New York in high heels as a media sales executive, my hips gave out and I could not move.

I found Restorative Yoga at Jivamukti in Union Square NY. I then took a certification workshop with Jillian Pransky and found even more offerings at Integral Yoga Institute in the West Village where I took my teacher training in Therapeutic Yoga with Cheri Clampert and Arturo Peal in 2018 and have been teaching ever since.

My current practice as a woman in her 50's includes a recent 200 hour RYT training with Daphne Larkin of Sanctuary Yoga in Nashville (2021) and weekly practices with Jai Sugrim and his Art of Aging approach as well as monthly workshops in Restorative, Sound Meditation and other complementary disciplines. Hiking, skiing and bicycle riding along with bird watching and a whole food diet help to round out my approach to a healthy lifestyle.

This supportive, nurturing, and restful practice brings me back to myself — deep within myself — where holding poses for several minutes while my body rests on pillows, blankets, bolsters, and props allowed deeply held tension I was not even aware of to melt away breath by breath, session by session. A sense of balance and renewal replaced anxiety and pain.

This practice has helped me in many ways — dealing with injury and recovery from surgery, working through illness, work and family anxiety, heartbreak, and menopausal symptoms — I can come back again and again to the support of this practice using my own body, mind, and breath to restore myself back to balance and a sense of deep calm and inner radiance.

All of this in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world.

With stress levels and anxiety at an all-time high, oftentimes causing pain, sleepless nights, and even illness, Restorative practices help us get back into balance, consciously rest and recover from the issues in our lives and in the world. It is a deeply restful and healing practice that helps restore balance in a gentle and approachable way for most any body.

Let's put a pause on all of the doing and stop to rest a bit. You'll be amazed at how good you'll feel.

It's my deep honor to help my students come back into balance in each class and in our private sessions. I look forward to helping you and sharing these ancient teachings in a modern way as we work on your wellness journey.

Namaste — the light in me bows to the light in you,

Liza
